NASA AIS Radar for sale one ebay (Sold)

Now Sold: Nasa AIS, I am keeping this video online for now as it is the only video of a working NASA AIS Radar on youtube atm. This short video demonstrates the functionality of the receiver. I connected the receiver to the Power Supply Unit I normally use for HAM radio and connected a jury-rigged antenna. The antenna was indoors so reception was poor, resulting in only one ship showing up on the radar. (a vessel at anchor somewhere in the thames estaury). I also had no GPS receiver at home (at least none that has an NMEA output) so I used the stored position which was the last fix the receiver received before I took it off my boat.

Ship Simulator 2008 Professional – work-in-progress

This video shows some of the functionality of Ship Simulator 2008 Professional: the option to transmit data from the game to another software program like a navigation tool, or to an external navigation instrument. This is done using the standard NMEA 0183 protocol, running on either a serial (RS232) connection, through ethernet, or through a simulated serial connection on the same PC. In the video, we run SS08Pro on a PC with two 30″ high-resolution monitors (each at 2500×1600 pixels resolution). The left monitor runs SS08Pro, and the left monitors runs a chart navigation program, Coastal Explorer. The result is that you can use SS08Pro as a teaching and training tool at maritime academies and nautical schools. You can also use SS08Pro for a compelling and attractive exhibition stand. More info and videos on SS08Pro will follow in August and September.

Ship Simulator 2008 Pro with Praxis DP system 2

For Praxis and the Maritime Institute Willem Barentsz Terschelling, we developed an interface between the Ship Simulator 2008 game and external navigation equipment, based on the NMEA 0183 protocol. The result is that you can connect the game also to Dynamic Positioning systems. This video shows Ship Simulator in combination with the Praxis DP system. But like with SS06 Professional, you can also connect external charting devices (ECDIS) or software programs like WinGPS or Coastal Explorer to the game.
